From: jdunigan1@aol.com Subject: David's Example Over the last several Sundays I have presented lessons to the congregation that dealt with people of the Bible, both good and bad and how the examples they left can help us today, here is one of them. The Three Lessons David Taught Our Young People. Prior to lesson sing "How Shall The Young Secure Their Hearts). INTRO: 1. Examples; David and Josiah (2 Chr. 34:3 ; 2 Kings 22 ; 23:25). 2. Scriptures; Eccl. 11:9 ; 12:1; 1 Tim. 4:12 ; 2 Tim.2:22). DISCUSSION: I. YOUNG PEOPLE SHOULD PUT THEIR TRUST IN GOD. A. Faith is the victory! (1 Jn. 5:4 ; Rev. 7:14). B. David fought in the name of the Lord. (1 Sam. 17:45) 1. David showed his faith by laying aside his armor. C. David put his life in God's hand. (1 Sam. 19:5). II. YOUNG PEOPLE SHOULD FIGHT FOR THE GREATEST CAUSE ON EARTH--THE CAUSE OF THE LORD! A. All the men of Israel "fled from Goliath" (1 Sam. 17:24). B. David said in 1 Sam. 17:32. III. YOUNG PEOPLE SHOULD REFUSE TO BE DISCOURAGED. A. David's brothers tried to discourage him. (1 Sam. 17:28). B. Saul discouraged him. C. Goliath laughed at him. 1. But not for long. D. David knew God was with him. (Rom. 8:31 ;2 Chr. 15:2) E. David won. (1 Sam. 17:50; 1 Kings 15:5 ; Acts 13:22). CONCLUSION: 1. Young people, Christ needs you to fight the greatest battle of all, in the battle of faith. 2. Are you afraid to respond. ==END==
